Frequently asked questions

Find quick answers to common questions about Medefine Academy.

Is Medefine Academy live online or in person?

The programme is fully live online (remote). Selected experiences, hospital visits and events take place in person in the UK, UAE, Hong Kong and Singapore.

How much time does it take each week?

Around 6-8 hours per month. One group session, one mentor call, and some independent work. Scheduled around school and exams.

Is it suitable for Year 9, 10 and 11 students?

Yes. Medefine Academy is catered to younger students.

What kind of mentoring is included?

Monthly 1:1 sessions with a practising doctor or medical student, matched to the student's goals and personality.

What kind of internships and experiences do students get?

Options include UCL research internships, NHS clinical experience, hospital placements, community projects, and a guided personal project.

How is this different from a summer school or short course?

Summer schools last 1–2 weeks. The Academy is ongoing, combining teaching, mentoring, experiences and projects in one structured programme that builds year on year.

What if my child is interested in medicine but not fully certain yet?

That's exactly who this is for. The Academy helps students explore healthcare properly and figure out whether it's the right path alongside building an application.

Are scholarships or financial support available?

Yes. A limited number of scholarships and bursaries are offered each year. Raise this during your introductory call.
